Team Manager for Data Science and ML engineering

What will you do?

In this role, you will lead and develop a team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers within Volvo Group’s Data and AI function. You will create the conditions for people to thrive, set clear priorities, and connect technical work to business value. Together with stakeholders across Volvo Group, you will support the full AI lifecycle from understanding needs to industrializing solutions and continuously improving how we deliver. You will also contribute to our ways of working through best practices, knowledge sharing, and active participation in our AI communities.

Your future team

You will join the Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering team, with 40+ professionals located in Gothenburg, Eskilstuna, Lyon, and Curitiba, working in close collaboration with colleagues across brands and business areas. The team is growing and we are looking for new managers to join our team.

• Leadership experience, with a strong interest in coaching, developing people, and building an inclusive team culture
• Solid understanding and proven academic achievements within applied AI and ML, including statistical foundations and software engineering principles
• Ability to set direction, prioritize, and navigate ambiguity in a business‑focused and collaborative way
• Previous experience of delivering products within data science, applied AI/ML or software engineering.
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to work with global, cross‑functional stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience leading product or platform teams in technical domains
• Hands‑on knowledge of DevSecOps practices applied to data science and ML engineering
• Proficiency in an additional local language relevant to the role location
