As a Tax Controversy Specialist, you will help evaluate AI's ability to understand and respond to high-stakes scenarios, ensuring future AI tools can provide accurate guidance for taxpayers facing IRS scrutiny. This role focuses on developing AI that can assist in critical tax situations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI outputs related to tax disputes, IRS audits, administrative appeals, and tax court proceedings for strategic soundness and legal accuracy.
• Design complex scenarios involving tax controversies, including examinations, collections, and penalty abatements, to test AI reasoning.
• Identify instances where AI misinterprets IRS procedural rules, fails to identify key arguments, or provides inadequate defense strategies.
• Evaluate legal briefs, IRS notices, and tax court opinions with expert insights on effective controversy resolution.
• Provide detailed feedback on AI's ability to synthesize facts, apply relevant tax law, and formulate persuasive arguments in a contentious context.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience in tax controversy, representing clients before the IRS or in tax court.
• Deep expertise in IRS examination procedures, collection due process, and tax litigation strategies.
• Proven track record of successfully resolving complex tax disputes.
• Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills to dissect intricate factual patterns and legal arguments.
• Strong written communication skills to provide clear, actionable feedback and create detailed test cases.
