Tax Associate Attorney (Energy)

Direct Counsel represents a prestigious AmLaw firm seeking a Tax Associate Attorney (Energy) with 2–4 years of experience to join its Tax Practice Group and support its nationally recognized Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance team.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with transactional tax experience who is interested in advising clients on sophisticated energy, infrastructure, and project finance transactions. The team represents leading utilities, independent power producers, pipeline operators, municipalities, commercial banks, tax investors, and energy technology companies on complex energy-related matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal income tax matters related to energy, infrastructure, and project finance transactions
• Research and analyze partnership and corporate taxation issues in transactional settings
• Assist with structuring and negotiating complex energy and infrastructure transactions
• Draft and review tax-related transaction documents and agreements
• Prepare tax analyses, legal memoranda, and client communications
• Collaborate with attorneys across tax, finance, corporate, and energy practice groups
• Support matters involving energy tax credits and related tax incentives

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• 2–4 years of transactional tax experience at a law firm
• Strong experience with federal income tax principles, partnership taxation, and corporate taxation
• Experience in transactional tax matters required
• Knowledge of energy tax credits strongly
• Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Strong academic credentials
• Licensed and in good standing with the applicable state bar

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $235,000 – $310,000 annually
