Realiser la conception du système et de la signalisation, ainsi que l’analyse, la modélisation et la simulation afin de définir des systèmes de contrôle ferroviaire basés sur la communication. Développer et définir les caractéristiques de conception du système afin de répondre aux exigences du client. Analyser et évaluer les exigences du client et vérifier leur conformité avec les exigences techniques de notre système produit. Développer et définir les exigences du système et des sous-systèmes afin de répondre à toute exigence spécifique du client dans le cadre du projet. Communiquer avec le client et les parties prenantes internes afin d’obtenir leur accord sur la conception. Le titulaire du poste est responsable de la réalisation de la conception et est capable de travailler de manière autonome dans le respect des contraintes de coûts et de délais, telles que définies dans les lots de travail approuvés. Si nécessaire, il sollicitera les conseils de collaborateurs plus expérimentés au sein de l’équipe pour les activités très complexes. Le travail est généralement défini par le responsable du lot de travail et attribué aux ingénieurs système. L’ingénieur en conception de systèmes travaille généralement avec une équipe d’ingénieurs pour définir les exigences et la conception du projet, sous la supervision technique du responsable de la conception de systèmes.

To perform system design, signaling design, analysis, modeling, and simulation to specify communication-based train control systems. To develop and define system design features to meet Customer requirements. To analyze and evaluate customer requirements and verify compliance with our product system technical requirements. To develop and define System and Subsystems requirements in order to fulfill any specific customer requirements on the project. To communicate and gain acceptance of the design with the customer and internal stakeholders. The incumbent is accountable for performing the design and able to work independently within cost and schedule limits, as defined in approved work packages. As needed, the incumbent will seek guidance from more senior resources in the team for very complex activities. The work is typically defined by the Work Package Manager and assigned to the system engineers. The System Design Engineer, typically works with a team of engineers to define the requirements/design for the project under the technical supervision of the System Design Lead.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and supports customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis, and architecture design.
• Converts Customer (internal and/or external) requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations, and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features.
• Creates new concepts or modifies existing concepts to fulfill customer requirements.
• Prepares system, subsystem, and interface requirement specifications by analyzing and decomposing, modeling, and refining customer requirements and typical train control domain requirements.
• Prepares Operational Concept Document.
• Prepares and supports bids and proposals, including customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis, architecture design, simulation, trade-off of key features, estimation, etc.
• Presents technical designs to customers and/or other engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise, and non-ambiguous terms.
• Evaluates and defines operational design limits.
• Interfaces and builds strong working relationships with Software, Hardware, and IVVQ groups to ensure timely analysis and resolution of in-house and field test issues, and ensures a good understanding of the System Design.

Safety

• Promotes a safety culture where product safety is paramount.
• Ensures that safety is built into the design by early identification and resolution of safety-related defects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Systems, Electrical, Computer), Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• 4–10 years’ experience in development of software-based System applications.
• Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods, and tools.
• Knowledge of systems development life cycle.
• Medium-level expertise in URS (Urban Rail Signaling) Systems.
• Minimum 5 years on or similar system complexity.
• Intermediate level of expertise on specialized engineering skills of the CBTC (Communication Based Train Control) domain.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in using DOORS, Polarion, Melody Advance, or other system design and requirement management tools.
• Strong application (automated train control systems) domain knowledge and knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.
• Rail signaling knowledge.
• System engineering expertise.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
