System engineering intern

TOULOUSE, 31
il y a 1 jour

By joining Alpha Impulsion as a systems engineering intern in the Toulouse office, you will participate in the development of AMBER, Alpha Impulsion's small scale autophage demonstrator for suborbital flight and in-space propulsion.

Reporting to the Lead Systems Engineer, you will participate in the definition of the autophage propulsion system architecture (functions, subsystems, interfaces), the definition of its requirements and their validation. You will contribute to the scale-up for orbital launch, by contributing to the progressive integration of more and more complex subsystems.

You will embark on a young project, with the opportunity to build it from start to qualification and exploitation.

Your first project here

Alpha Impulsion is developing a small-scale engine for its demonstrator AMBER. Its goal is to derisk at small scale technologies to be used in the future OPAL engine for in-space activities & GARNET engine for launch vehicles. The results of this demonstration might change the way mini launchers are built, demonstrating performance up to twice that of current propulsion technologies.

Your key responsibilities

  • Contributing to the development of the system architecture using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, particularly Capella.
  • Building and managing requirements decomposition, technical interfaces and operational interfaces, depending on the end application (in-space propulsion, launcher)
  • Supporting performance budgets, interface definitions, and system-level trade‑off analyses for technical solution decisions.
  • Collaborating with the different engineering disciplines to ensure design compliance with environmental, mission, and performance requirements.
  • Adapting your approach to change management and managing requirements and their verification within an Agile development methodology.
  • Assisting in defining test plans, including functional, environmental, and acceptance testing strategies.
  • Gaining hands‑on experience with full rocket engine system integration, including fluid systems, structures, avionics, and thermal engineering.

What we would appreciate most

  • You are in the final year of a Master’s degree or engineering school, with a strong academic background and knowledge of complex systems engineering, as well as familiarity with propulsion engineering disciplines, and you are eager to apply your skills to real‑world engineering challenges.
  • Creative, curious, and autonomous, you take pride in seeing the tangible results of your work.
  • You have practical experience with the engineering methods mentioned above and want to help shape the next generation of space transportation.
  • Comfortable with a startup environment and Agile frameworks.
  • Professional English required.

Would be a plus

  • Italian and/or French speaking.

Compensation & advantages

700€/month base salary, 75% public transport reimbursement (versus the usual 50%), sustainable mobility package “Forfait Mobilité Durable”.

If you thrive on challenge, take on a new one and join the crew.
