System Engineer - Future System Architecture
Country/Region: FR
Eligibility for French national security clearance under Articles R.2311-1 and IGI 1300 SGDSN/PSE is required.
Job Overview
Join the Future System Architecture team and help shape next‑generation satellite connectivity. As a System Engineer, you will design and integrate complex space systems combining space, ground, and mission segments. From concept to operational deployment, you will ensure technical consistency and performance across all domains.
Who you are
You are an experienced system engineer with a strong background in satcom systems or other complex satellite system architectures, capable of driving end‑to‑end system design and bridging operational needs with technical solutions. You thrive in multidisciplinary environments and have a proven ability to manage complexity across multiple segments.
- Deep expertise in satcom systems or other satellite applications
- Strong understanding of system‑level impacts and how they influence architecture choices
- Solid knowledge of network architecture and interoperability with mission systems
- Familiarity with constellation concepts and performance drivers for global service delivery
- Experience in military or defense programs and mission‑critical environments is a strong asset
- Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams coordinating across payload, antennas, ground infrastructure, and mission planning
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate operational needs into robust technical specifications for complex systems
- Collaborative mindset, able to engage effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers
What you will do
Requirements & Architecture
Capture and formalise customer needs into system‑level requirements. Define technical impacts across space, ground, and mission segments. Lead requirement allocation and ensure traceability.
Integration & Validation
Drive co‑engineering workshops with stakeholders (payload, ground network, antennas, mission chain). Oversee integration and verification activities (FlatSat, end‑to‑end IVV). Perform architecture trade‑offs and performance analysis (coverage, latency, throughput).
Compliance & Coordination
Ensure compliance with security and certification frameworks (DR‑SF, ANSSI/DGA). Act as technical interface with suppliers and subcontractors. Support procurement processes and evaluate supplier compliance. Produce high‑quality technical documentation (ICD, CONOPS, system specs). Contribute to optimisation roadmaps and integrate new technologies. Provide technical expertise and training to customer‑facing teams.
What you will need
Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in space system engineering (LEO experience is a plus)
- Fluency in French and English (mandatory)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work across all engineering phases: requirements, design, integration, validation, operations
- Experience in multi‑stakeholder coordination and cross‑functional teams
- French nationality required for security clearance
What We’d Love
- Hands‑on experience with satellite systems (RF systems, antenna integration, operations)
- Familiarity with satcom protocols (DVB‑S2X, CCSDS) and cellular standards (3GPP LTE, 5G)
- Proficiency in modelling and simulation tools for system performance analysis
- Programming and automation skills (Python, C/C++, MATLAB) for design and integration workflows
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for critical infrastructure
- Experience in innovation projects or advanced space applications
- Experience in military or defense programs and secure environments
