About the Role

Responsible for day‑to‑day inspections on board related to piping and outfitting in accommodation areas. This position requires follow‑up on execution process on board based on approved documentation, contractual specification, and classification standards. The role includes close collaboration with the shipyard, site office machinery department, and suppliers, as well as attendance on factory acceptance tests in France or abroad. Additional duties include the plan approval process, monitoring of progress, follow‑up on expected milestones and tests/commissioning of various equipment at the subject areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily inspections and patrols onboard, evaluating the quality and execution process.
  • Focus on safety processes on board linked to daily yard activities.
  • Application of relevant rules and regulations in the development of cruise ship design and building, including evaluation of new materials.
  • Cooperation with various disciplines to ensure correct execution based on each standard and method.
  • Oversee construction, installation works, commissioning, and acceptance of machinery‑related equipment (including pools, RWF, hotel equipment, laundry systems, firefighting systems, hydraulic systems).
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and commissioning results, contributing to monthly construction status reports.
  • Address remarks, defects, and non‑conformities identified in past projects or guarantee claims to ensure resolution during the inspection and commissioning process.
  • Assist with the preparation of delivery documents and protocols for the ships.
  • Establish productive relationships with the shipyard, classification societies, and other regulatory bodies to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Implement and enforce the project’s quality control plan to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and material quality.
  • Participate and lead inspections of equipment at supplier premises in France and abroad (FAT, factory acceptance tests) during the building process.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the scope of the project.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical and Marine Engineer BSc degree with at least 5 years minimum experience in a similar role or Hotel Maintenance Manager with at least 10 years minimum experience, including new‑build experience.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment used in the design and production of various goods and services.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Excellent written and verbal English; other languages are an advantage.
  • In‑depth knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, and other relevant regulations.
  • High‑level communication skills with the ability to proactively create and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, development partners, and remote‑based colleagues.
  • Independent and self‑oriented skills to lead simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and willingness to travel.
  • Relevant computer skills.
