Overview
Gexcon are looking for a motivated professional to join our team as a Structural Engineer.
This key role is intended for professionals passionate about structural design and analysis, and eager to learn and progress their career through innovative projects.
Qualifications
- BSc with significant experience, in a STEM subject (such as Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other natural sciences). Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field would be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of structural dynamics, material behaviour under high strain rates, and failure mechanisms.
- First experience in the field of structural analysis with relevant technical skills (e.g. drop objects, impact, penetrations, crash) to apply to specific blast modelling in the context of rapid phenomenon and non-linear analysis
- Skilled in design verification, design optimisation of structures
- Experienced in Explosion, Fire, Cryogenic structural response assessments
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills in French
- Fluency in spoken English
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multidisciplinary, international team
- A passion for engineering innovation and continuous learning
What the Role Involves
Key responsibilities are:
- Perform structural integrity assessments for buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure under extreme loading conditions (explosions, fires, blast waves, thermal effects)
- Design protective structures and mitigation measures to enhance resilience against accidental hazards
- Conduct dynamic simulations (FEA/FEM) and analytical assessments
- Support risk assessments, consequence modelling, and vulnerability studies
- Develop detailed technical reports and present findings to clients
- Collaborate with internal teams and international Gexcon experts across different projects and markets
- Contribute to innovation projects and help advance best practices in explosion and fire-resilient design
- The role requires interaction and collaboration with the wider Gexcon team
- You are expected to continuously update his/her learning and knowledge
