Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The main missions of the role are:
Within your area of expertise, you develop, industrialize and optimize stamping tools processes to ensure performance, quality and competitiveness of production systems. The stamping specialist oversees stamping tools from concept definition to start of production at plant.
Purpose and Main Responsibilities
Process Development
- Analyze and validate product/process feasibility for stamped part and support product development team.
- Define tooling concepts for sheet metal forming to achieve tooling performance.
- Ensure feasibility assessment for stamping parts by using stamping simulation (AUTOFORM).
- Support acquisition team (design-to-cost)
- Validate tools concept of external stamping supplier
Industrialization
- Define tool specifications and launch/lead RFQs
- Manage tools suppliers from design phase up to final validation (worldwide) including all validation steps (strip layout, studies, construction, reception at supplier sites and Forvia plants, …).
- Define and ensure compliance with program targets (cost, quality, cycle time, …) and manage action plan to reach them with external and internal resources.
Production Launch
- Lead tools installation and commissioning in Forvia plant (Europe) until full process validation
- Train plant teams and support start of production
- Contribute to achieving targets
Continuous Improvement
- Optimize tools performance (cycle time, OEE, cost, …).
- Capitalize and deploy best practices
Your profile and competencies to succeed
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in stamping manufacturing and development (tool shop).
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Experience with simulation tool (Autoform and CATIA)
- Able to learn on the fly and work in shopfloor environments.
- Able to communicate effectively in English in a multicultural environment.
- Ready to travel (worldwide) as required by projects (approximately 20% to 30% of the time).
