Engineer/Master internship offer in protein biochemistry

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer/Master2 student to join the THIONICO project, as part of the interdisciplinary ARTEMIS program for 5 to 6 months between January and September 2026.

The goal of THIONICO is to biochemically and structurally characterize atypical poplar thioredoxins of unknown function that form oligomers in solution. This work will contribute to extend our understanding of the redox metabolism in plants.

The selected candidate will have to play a role contributing to the development of the expression of protein oligomers in the plant-based eukaryotic system Nicotiana benthamiana and will participate in both their biochemical and structural characterization.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated student in biochemistry, structural biology, plant sciences or related fields and proven experience in one or several of the following aspects:

• Recombinant protein expression and purification

• Protein complex characterization, enzymology, redox biology or structural biology

• Solid skills in molecular biology techniques (particularly Golden Gate cloning) and transient expression in Nicotiana benthamiana- Experience with protein expression in eukaryotic system is a strong plus

• Plant cultivation

• Organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment

Position Details

• Location: Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy (Faculty of Sciences and Technology)

• Contract: Internship full time

• Duration: From 4 to 6 months

• Start Date: from Jan. 2026
