Technical Stack

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve Matera's backend architecture over the long term (modularisation, design system, performance, clean architecture, DDD).
  • Identify current technical limits, propose solutions, and implement them with the team.
  • Initiate and lead high‑impact tech or product projects.
  • Establish and promote backend coding standards across all squads.
  • Improve the Developer Experience: AI adoption, tooling, CI, testing strategy, documentation.
  • Mentor developers of all levels and raise the collective skill level.
  • Contribute to the overall technical vision alongside the CTO and other Staff.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years as a Software Engineer with a strong backend focus and expertise in Ruby on Rails.
  • Comfortable with DevOps and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Full‑stack experience to manage projects end‑to‑end.
  • Technical leadership capable of defining vision and rallying the team.
  • Deep understanding of application performance, database, and infrastructure issues.
  • Active use of AI in work methods, continuously experimenting to improve efficiency.
  • Strong product appetite and obsession for delivering the best user experience.
