Staff Quantum Experimentalist
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems. The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit.
We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.
Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!
Job Description
The Firmware department responsibility is to develop the stack controlling our Quantum Processing Unit (QPU), from directly interacting with the chip to running quantum algorithms. As a Staff Quantum Experimentalist, you will play a key role in designing and optimizing the calibrations of the QPU.
Your role will be to drive the efforts to automatize the chip calibrations, to characterize and optimize the gates performance, and to advance the knowledge of large cat-qubit processors, including using numerical methods. Your work will refine the technological roadmap of the company, you will have the opportunity to work together with top-level teams internally, mentor and train junior scientists, and represent scientific research of the company externally.
Responsibilities
- Define and optimize the processor automatic calibration graphs
- Drive new gate measurements and calibration methods from idea to integration in the cat qubit quantum processors
- Apply state-of-the-art methods of control of superconducting circuits to cat qubits
- Contribute to the expansion of the knowledgebase of Alice & Bob and the continuous training of experimentalists
- Manage external collaborations
