As a QA Automation Engineer on the Inbox team

As a QA Automation Engineer on the Inbox team, you will play a crucial role in testing Proton's most vital services, including Mail and Calendar. You are expected to be customer‑centric, continuously learning, passionate about technology and usability, and adept at turning technical complexities into seamless user experiences.

Tech Stack and Tools

Kotlin, Java (Jetpack Compose Testing, Espresso, UI Automator), XCode, SWIFT (XCUITest)

What you will do

• Automate away the waste in the testing of Proton Mail’s mobile applications.
• Shape the overall testing architecture and standards, ensuring consistent metrics, a quality approach, defect resolution process, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish a team mindset focused on quality, using technical knowledge to ensure Proton users enjoy a flawless experience.
• Keep engagement high with a fast‑paced development process and ongoing deliveries; execute and adjust testing activities accordingly.
• Collaborate closely with Customer Support to identify issues, priorities, and user feedback.
• Define and lead a unified quality strategy for the Inbox Business Unit.

What we are looking for

• 10+ years of experience as a QA Engineer and at least 2+ years of experience developing automation for mobile platforms.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java programming languages, with hands‑on experience in UI testing frameworks such as Espresso, UiAutomator, Compose UI Test.
• Proficiency in Swift programming language, with hands‑on experience in UI testing frameworks: XCUITest and XCTest.
• Understanding of CI/CD processes and tools.
• Strong technical skills and ability to identify issues and solve complex problems.
• Good understanding of the software development life‑cycle process.
• Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Proactiveness and high motivation.
