Staff Engineer - Tech Lead (All Genders)
As part of its strategic platform evolution, Dailymotion is strengthening its Core Platform team with a Staff Engineer - Technical Lead role. You will lead the technical strategy and execution for internal tools migration and legacy system transition, playing a critical role in our transformation from monolithic to cloud‑native microservices architecture.
You’ll architect and maintain critical platform components while leading a dedicated squad focused on internal tooling migration. Your mission is to ensure seamless transition of internal systems, minimize disruption to internal teams, and establish migration patterns that can be replicated across the organization. Working closely with Product teams, DevOps, QA and internal stakeholders, you’ll drive the technical vision for legacy modernization while mentoring engineers and enabling organizational‑wide transformation.
You’ll be joining our strategic transformation program to modernize our platform, specifically leading the internal migration workstream that serves as the foundation for our entire technical evolution.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Define and drive technical strategy for internal tools migration and legacy system transition
- Lead architecture decisions for internal API migration and system modernization
- Design migration patterns, frameworks, and tools that can be reused across the organization
- Establish technical standards and best practices for legacy system decommissioning
Squad Leadership
- Lead and mentor a squad of backend engineers focused on internal migration
- Collaborate with other squad leads to ensure cohesive platform evolution
- Drive technical decision‑making and resolve complex architectural challenges
- Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
Migration & Modernization
- Design and execute comprehensive migration strategies for internal tools and systems
- Build compatibility layers and transition bridges for critical internal services
- Coordinate with internal teams to minimize disruption during migration phasesLead legacy system assessment, prioritization, and decommissioning activities
Cross‑functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product teams to understand internal tooling requirements
- Work closely with other Technical Leads to ensure platform coherence
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams on infrastructure transition
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams during migration
