Staff Data Analyst

You will serve as the strategic analytics partner for two of Betclic's most critical Product domains: Payment and Fraud/AML. Working closely with Product Directors and senior business stakeholders, you will ensure that every product initiative is guided by data, delivers measurable business impact, and contributes to Betclic's long‑term strategic objectives.

Team Overview

The Analytics team is part of a larger Data team and focuses on growing the business by identifying critical insights and high‑value opportunities. It includes members from Data Science, Data Product Management and Product Analytics.

Payment Team Mission

Deliver the most seamless, secure, and trusted payment experience for players while optimizing payment costs and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Fraud/AML Team Mission

Continuously enhance the accuracy and coverage of fraud detection and anti‑money laundering models, with the long‑term objective of achieving fully automated decision‑making by 2030.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Directors and senior business stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of strategic priorities, business challenges, and future opportunities.
  • Deliver high‑impact analyses and transform complex data into actionable insights that drive product improvements and measurable business outcomes.
  • Identify high‑value opportunities to accelerate business growth and influence the evolution of product roadmaps.
  • Lead complex analytical initiatives end‑to‑end, from problem framing and hypothesis definition through implementation and impact measurement.
  • Promote analytical excellence by ensuring that insights are robust, actionable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Mentor a team of three Data Analysts, fostering their professional development while maintaining a high standard of analytical quality.
  • Serve as the primary analytics partner for the Payments and Fraud & AML domains, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Product Directors, Engineering leaders, and senior executives to align priorities, shape product strategy, and maximize business value.

Recent Projects

  • Fraud: Evaluated the performance of Genuine Score, Betclic's ML model designed to identify false‑positive fraud detections, and identified opportunities to improve precision and operational efficiency.
  • AML: Enhanced the in‑house GenAI‑powered AML detection engine by optimizing detection performance and strengthening safeguards against AI hallucinations.
  • Payment: Analyzed abusive payment behaviors among customers in Côte d'Ivoire and designed strategies to mitigate fraudulent activity while preserving a frictionless experience for legitimate players.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics or data analytics.
  • At least four years of data analytics experience with a track record of providing relevant, actionable data‑based recommendations.
  • Business‑mindset, able to make actionable and impactful recommendations.
  • Strong analytical mindset, rigorous, curious, and synthetic.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in SQL and Python.
  • Familiar with at least one data visualization tool.
  • Proactive, eager to learn and grow.
  • Experience managing projects independently and mentoring other data analysts or trainees.
  • Agile and able to adapt to a fast‑paced environment.

  • Familiarity with Git and versioning concepts.

Hiring Process

If selected, you will first be contacted to complete an online technical test, followed by a 30‑minute HR pre‑qualification. Next, you will have a technical interview via video call covering SQL, Python, statistics, probability, analytics, and business sense. You will then have one week to complete an analytical use case and an AssessFirst test. After that, you will visit our office to present your use case and meet the senior data analytics manager, the chief data officer, and a business stakeholder. Finally, you will have a final HR interview, including a debrief of the AssessFirst test. The overall hiring process lasts four to six weeks.
