AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain‑specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. They craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address customers’ complex challenges, guiding customers as they refactor applications or design new cloud‑based systems.

We seek a Senior HPC Specialist Solutions Architect focused on HPC workloads, including physics informed machine learning, CAE, weather and accelerated GPU computing, to help customers migrate and optimize their workloads on AWS.

Key job responsibilities

• Design customer solutions.
• Collaborate with wider AWS teams to architect HPC solutions that leverage AWS services.
• Engage with Solution Architects, Account Managers, Professional Services & Partners to define an HPC engagement strategy for AWS operational territories and key accounts, focusing on public‑sector national supercomputing centers, government agencies and enterprises, as well as startups.
• Provide thought leadership on solutions that benefit customers, contributing to external publications such as the AWS Compute Blog, white‑papers, and reference architectures, and training internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a key member of the business development & account teams to ensure customer success by advising on building and migrating applications, software, and services to AWS.
• Assist solution providers with defining and implementing technical and business strategies.
• Capture and share best‑practice knowledge across the worldwide AWS solution architect community.
• Understand AWS market segments and industry verticals.
• Understand and exploit the use of internal business support systems.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
• 3+ years of design, implementation or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
• Deep HPC experience for workloads in CAE, weather simulation, oil and gas, automotive/aerospace, financial services or pharmaceuticals.
• Experience architecting an HPC system and infrastructure with orchestration schedulers (e.g., Slurm, Torque, Symphony or GridServer) and parallel file systems (Lustre, IBM Spectrum Scale).
• Experience in deployment, tuning, benchmarking and management of HPC technologies in a multi‑user environment.
• Deep GPU knowledge in HPC and/or AI/ML frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience.
• Experience working with end‑user or developer communities.
• Working knowledge of HPC schedulers and distributed/parallel file systems, underlying IT systems, and the HPC development process, high‑throughput and tight‑coupling approaches.
• Working knowledge of containers such as Docker, Kubernetes, Singularity.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
