Sr Mgr, Architectural Design
The Senior Manager, Architectural Design provides primary leadership and expertise to new building projects assigned by the EVP of New Buildings. The incumbent directs architects, designers, and consultants to achieve brand‑specific design concept goals for various brands, serving as a conduit of information between the corporation and external architects and design firms.
Responsibilities
- Direct the entire design process for all assigned projects, maintaining brand‑specific design concepts.
- Evaluate the talent and effort of architects, designers, and consultants, monitor quality and suitability of their work, and provide feedback.
- Participate with senior management in long‑range planning and objective development, including budgetary matters, and evaluate monthly and quarterly results.
- Ensure design guidelines, standards, CADD & drawing standards, and reference documents are fulfilled within design drawings and specifications, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Develop team resources (people, processes, tools) for large‑scale projects and independently plan, manage, guide design, and oversee projects while cross‑coordinating best practices between external firms.
- Maintain SQM practices throughout all design phases and propose new methods and processes to improve execution.
- Create presentations and project reports for Executive Management review and develop planning models supporting the organization’s mission and values.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor or management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or Architecture (architecture background preferred); MBA preferred.
- 8–15 years of experience within the cruise design industry, preferably in a mid‑to‑large high‑end hospitality environment, with a minimum of 8 years managing multi‑million‑dollar projects.
- Proven management experience with direct reporting managers and staff.
- Ability to travel internationally or domestically 25% of the time.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey aesthetic concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with all levels of management and employees across diverse cultures.
- Strong teamwork, collaborative leadership, and self‑motivation to mobilize people and resources in a high‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Microsoft Project and Lotus Notes desirable.
