Head of Last Mile & Delivery Operations – France
As part of JD Logistics’ European expansion, the Head of Last Mile & Delivery Operations – France will lead the design, launch, and management of JD’s last‑mile delivery network in France. This role combines strategic leadership and operational excellence, ensuring a cost‑efficient, compliant, and customer‑centric delivery experience aligned with JD’s global standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Network Development
- Design and implement a nationwide last‑mile strategy, covering urban, suburban, and rural areas.
- Build partnerships with third‑party providers or develop in‑house operations for B2C parcel delivery.
- Oversee systems integration, routing optimisation, and the use of technology tools to enhance efficiency.
- Operational Management
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery station operations: inbound, sortation, outbound, and last‑mile dispatch.
- Ensure consistent achievement of performance targets for quality, productivity, and on‑time delivery.
- Manage resource planning (labour, equipment, space) to adapt to volume fluctuations.
- People Leadership & Talent Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high‑performance leadership team.
- Partner with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion, and operational excellence.
- Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure strict compliance with French labour laws, safety standards, and transport regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments; implement corrective actions as required.
- Maintain high‑quality standards and address root causes of delays or operational issues.
- Continuous Improvement & Cost Management
- Analyse operational data to identify opportunities for efficiency and cost optimisation.
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage operational budgets, balancing cost efficiency and service quality.
- Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Collaborate with regional operations, transportation, and planning teams.
- Represent French operations in cross‑functional projects and business reviews.
- Build strong relationships with external partners, authorities, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in high‑volume logistics, last‑mile, or transportation operations, including at least 3 years in a senior management role.
- Proven experience in managing large teams (200+ employees) and scaling delivery networks.
- Deep understanding of French labour law, safety regulations, and transport compliance frameworks.
- Fluency in French and English; Mandarin is a plus.
