Technical Sales Engineer / Pre-Sales Engineer
The Technical Sales Engineer / Pre‑Sales Engineer plays a key role within the company by combining in-depth technical expertise with commercial and sales skills. They promote and sell the technical products and services of the Railways & Mission Critical Business Unit by providing technical support to clients in the Public Safety and Public Transport sectors. The engineer acts as a link between the technical teams and customers, thereby contributing to the achievement of the company's sales and growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical expert to win over the client during contract negotiations.
- Help the client articulate, gather, and analyze requirements to draft a solution description document.
- Provide comprehensive technical support to sales staff throughout the sales process (prototyping, demonstrations, documentation, etc.) and assist in tender responses.
- Derive product architecture with necessary specifications, determining bill of materials and calculating tender price.
- Work primarily in a back‑office capacity in partnership with the sales team.
- Conduct client meetings, create technical presentations and demos to convince the client.
- Monitor technological and competitive developments and analyze current situations to prioritize improvement areas.
- Use office software to produce effective content.
- Communicate fluently in professional English and French.
- Demonstrate autonomy and support sales representatives in demonstrations and sales processes.
- Keep abreast of technological developments, use solution mock‑ups as visual aids, and propose suitable solutions.
- Develop advanced expertise in the Mission Critical market and oversee launch and progress monitoring of projects.
- Provide mentoring to anticipate client needs and suggest future uses of the product, especially in light of emerging technologies such as 5G.
- Deliver training sessions for clients and lead technical discussions or manage complex projects in English and French.
Qualifications
- University degree in technical engineering specializing in telecommunications, preferably in Mission Critical.
- Relevant professional experience combining technical and commercial skills, preferably as a technical sales engineer or pre‑sales engineer.
- Excellent communication skills in English and French, both verbal and written.
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently to client sites, primarily in the Americas and/or Asia, with some travel within Europe.
- Results‑oriented with proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
