Our solution is adopted by many use cases such as fraud detection, knowledge graphs, recommendation and personalization, risk management, security, IT management, and network operations.

In the Neo4j Sales Engineering team we work directly with customers across industries and with a wide range of technologies. We provide engineering and architecture leadership and development for the Neo4j‑based solutions our customers build.

The responsibilities of a Sales Engineer include understanding the prospective customer’s needs and environment, translating those needs into an architecture that incorporates our graph database technology, and guiding all parties through the sales process. Demonstrating Neo4j for specific domains, whiteboarding solution architectures, and engaging technical decision makers are typical day‑to‑day tasks. A Sales Engineer combines business terminology with technical concepts throughout the engagement.

In addition to being graph database experts, you will understand and position other architectural components in a graph‑based solution, such as Big Data platforms, NoSQL stores, relational databases, caching, messaging, and middleware services as part of a modern data architecture.

What You'll Do:

• Lead and contribute to all phases of Neo4j PreSales projects with customer teams
• Help persuade prospective users of the benefits and advantages of graph technology
• Position Neo4j within the customer’s environment and overall architecture
• Discuss solution architectures that address technical requirements of the customer’s projects
• Design and build prototype solutions that demonstrate required functionality with Neo4j
• Prepare solution proposals for customer engineering and management teams that address overall project goals

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years in a Pre‑Sales or Professional Services organization
• Excellent understanding and demonstrable experience with database technologies and data modelling concepts, ideally with NoSQL stores
• Architecture skills – mapping business to technical requirements and understanding multiple components to build a solution
• Software engineering experience
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript)
• Comfortable and quick at learning new technologies as required
• Passionate about solving technical problems
• Capable of educating and training small groups
• Strong understanding of the sales process
• A proactive approach to keeping the technical aspects of a sales process on track
• Industry vertical experience in one of: Financial Services, Retail, Government, Security, Pharmaceutical, Supply Chain, Manufacturing
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• Ability to work independently, self‑directed and remotely within a cross‑functional organization
• Ability and willingness to travel

Nice to Have:

• Graph database experience such as Neo4j or other property graph or RDF platforms
• Data science, AI/ML, data integration (ETL, virtualization, federation)
• BI and data visualization (Tableau, Qlik, D3, viz.js, Linkurious)
