Software License Compliance Investigator (Software Asset Management)
Job Description and Role Responsibilities
To resolve infringement of DS software intellectual property (IP) with Investigator engagement with infringers/customers.
To create and drive strategies for the DS anti-piracy and compliance program. Strategies include the identification of infringements of software IP via innovative and constantly evolving technology tools and investigative techniques.
To develop, investigate, and manage the leads derived from this information provided by internal/external sources.
To drive those leads individually or in partnership with the Customer Value Engagement (CVE) sales teams and to ultimately drive payment for one-time use from the infringements.
In addition, to investigate those organizations/individuals engaged in the illegal distribution of unlicensed or illegal DS software products, working with Law Enforcement/Trade Bodies to close or disrupt such activities.
Engage infringing parties with well-prepared evidence and negotiate settlements that include past use.
Understand DS products and offerings so can determine nature of infringement and understand how to settle Develop and determine Engagement Type models to best address CVE/Geography dynamics.
Engage directly with infringer on compliance actions where a Direct Engagement is optimal.
Create and evolve the License Compliance Program to produce growth via strategic initiatives and provide an efficient and effective infrastructure to support the program.
Generate, investigate, and execute quality opportunities within the Customer Value Engagement using all available sources.
Develop, review, and enhance the infrastructure for the engagement of third parties worldwide who have been engaged to support or advance the strategy of the anti-piracy and compliance program.
Monitor, control, and coordinate activities amongst Investigation Firms, Audit Firms and Law Firms in compliance-related actions within the region of designated responsibility.
Provide accurate and timely forecasting of revenue and measurements of results. Manage the business with respect to the Expense to Revenue ratio (E/R) and the optimal Return on Investment (ROI).
Work closely with the business to ensure that compliance leads are entered into, and maintained in, My Client Engagement (MCE) and Order, in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage, populate, and maintain the EXALEAD License Compliance Case Management System in a timely and accurate manner.
Support and work with the business to ensure that opportunities are created by the relevant responsible person within each Customer Value Engagement, and that they are properly managed in My Client Engagement (MCE) and Order, in a timely and accurate manner.
Investigate those organizations and individuals involved in the distribution of illegal/counterfeit DS products.
- Experience in License Compliance or a role that required a focus on analytical and investigative activities as well as negotiation experience with customers Sales Experience preferred for some roles Technical and DS Product Knowledge including Licensing/Contracts preferred.
- Experience in legal activities including settlement agreements and enforcement a plus
- Candidate needs to be comfortable to manage difficult negotiations and be able to deescalate potential conflicts.
