Job Description

As part of the expansion of our Aerospace & Defence activities, we are looking for a Software Functional Leader / Senior Embedded Software Engineer (M/F) to contribute to the development of next‑generation avionics systems within safety‑critical environments.

Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, you will lead software development activities while remaining technically involved in the specification, development and certification of embedded software compliant with aerospace standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead software activities throughout the full lifecycle of avionics development projects.
• Define and maintain software development plans, schedules and project milestones.
• Coordinate software activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
• Ensure software execution complies with approved development plans and applicable certification standards.
• Specify, design, develop and integrate embedded software modules written in C/C++.
• Develop low‑level embedded software in C, including Linux Kernel Drivers, VxWorks 653 BSPs and application software for avionics platforms.
• Contribute to RTOS Board Support Packages (BSPs) for Mercury platforms.
• Ensure compliance with DO‑178C software development lifecycle requirements.
• Participate in software architecture, design reviews and technical decision‑making.
• Perform software integration, debugging and verification activities when required.
• Develop automated verification and validation scripts using Python.
• Support subcontractors responsible for software verification activities.
• Interface directly with customers during technical reviews, software discussions and DO‑178C certification audits.
• Provide effort estimations (BoE) and technical input for software development activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes and engineering best practices.

YOUR PROFILE

You hold a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

You have extensive experience in embedded software development within aerospace or other safety‑critical industries and are comfortable combining technical leadership with hands‑on engineering.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in embedded software development.
• Strong expertise in C/C++ programming.
• Proven experience in avionics software development.
• Extensive experience with DO-178C Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification, including software planning, development, verification and certification activities.
• Experience with DO-330 Tool Qualification.
• Strong experience with RTOS and BSP development for avionics platforms.
• Experience developing Linux Kernel Drivers.
• Knowledge of VxWorks 653 environments.
• Experience in software planning, project coordination and technical leadership.
• Good understanding of software integration, verification and validation.
• Experience developing automated test scripts in Python.
• Ability to interact with customers, certification authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience supporting software subcontractors and external partners.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem‑solving skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with airborne computing platforms.
• Knowledge of safety‑critical software architectures.
• Previous experience leading software teams on certified aerospace projects.
• Experience participating in certification audits.
• Familiarity with Board Support Package development for embedded Linux platforms.

Languages

• Fluent Spanish & English is mandatory.
• French is considered an asset.
