Payout Team – Software Engineer

The Payout team drives Back Market’s marketplace financial engine, ensuring sellers and customers are paid quickly, securely, and reliably. The team manages the full payout lifecycle, from executing payments to a global network of refurbishers, to handling seller onboarding and compliance, monitoring financial risk, and developing innovative financing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with squad members and the group’s Staff engineer to design, build, launch, monitor, and support payment infrastructure.
• Operate in an agile "build it and run it" environment where you own and iterate on your product.
• Deliver seamless user experiences at scale and maintain clean, consistent, and well‑organised code.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, contribute to squad rituals, and align technical direction with the overall vision.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong system design skills and knowledge of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and relevant data architecture.
• Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery), and familiarity with Golang and Django.
• Fullstack mindset: end‑to‑end product thinking, curiosity across the stack, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and ability to navigate ambiguity across technical domains.
• English fluency required for an international team.

Main Technical Challenges

The platform is transitioning from a monolith to a distributed, service‑oriented architecture. You’ll help modernise the stack, build efficient, loosely coupled services, and collaborate with Platform teams to provide a scalable and secure engineering foundation.
