Software Engineer - Internal AI Platform
Overview
At Gorgias we are building a unified AI agent platform that sells, supports, and re‑engages customers across the entire journey. The platform, called Cortex, is used internally by teams to build and use AI solutions for eCommerce.
What You'll Do
- Enhance the Cortex UX by designing and shipping user‑facing surfaces such as the work hub, agent/app builder, workflows, connectors, and embedded apps with product polish and reliability.
- Own platform services and infrastructure, including internal APIs, background workers, integration layers, deployment pipelines on Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and ArgoCD/GitOps; monitor with Datadog and manage alerting, incident response, and capacity planning.
- Build the foundation for others to build on Cortex: authentication, integrations, and an app framework that allows teams to ship internal apps without touching underlying infrastructure.
- Harden governance and cost control through permissions, usage visibility, and controls that enable people to use LLM infrastructure without overspending.
- Raise the bar on developer, agent, and user experience by reducing friction, automating repetitive work, and maintaining a codebase that is clean, well‑tested, and agent‑legible.
- Be a pillar of the platform by providing continuous peer review and shared coverage so the platform operates effectively as a team effort.
Who You Are
- 3+ years as a full‑stack engineer, having shipped end‑to‑end user‑facing products.
- Strong full‑stack skills across front‑end (React) and back‑end services and APIs with an instinct to turn capabilities into approachable and reliable experiences.
- Comfortable owning cloud‑native infrastructure—Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, and container orchestration on GCP—as well as platform services beyond the UI.
- Solid programming skills in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, pragmatic about choosing the right tool for the job.
- Good understanding of system design fundamentals—service boundaries, API contracts, async patterns, and relational data.
- Platform mindset focused on the productivity and autonomy of teammates and internal users, writing clean, well‑tested, agent‑legible code and caring about long‑term quality.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, communicates clearly, flags blockers early, and owns work end to end.
Nice to Have
- Experience building multi‑user products—auth, permissions, account management.
- Observability and monitoring tooling (Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Familiarity with streaming infrastructure such as Kafka, Kafka Connect, and CDC patterns.
- Prior platform engineering or internal‑tools experience.
- Interest or exposure to AI‑native development—agent orchestration, MCP, evals (LangGraph, LangSmith).
