Since its opening in May 1954, St Luke's Hospital in Rathgar, Dublin, has cared for cancer patients from all over Ireland. In July 2005, the then Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney, T.D., announced plans to develop a national network for radiation oncology.
Description
Established in 2010, St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network operates from three Dublin locations:
- St. Luke’s Hospital – specialist oncology hospital in Rathgar.
- St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre, St. James’s Hospital.
- St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre, Beaumont Hospital.
SLRON is the National Radiation Oncology Centre in Ireland, offering a full range of world class treatments, including comprehensive Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Intra‑cranial and Extra‑cranial Stereotactic, Total Body Irradiation (TBI), paediatric service, and comprehensive brachytherapy.
The nursing department plays a central role in delivering quality care to diverse radiation oncology patients and supports a dedicated palliative care team led by two Palliative Care Consultants.
We are committed to nurses’ professional development through in‑house Radiation Oncology Nursing Certificate courses and partnerships with Trinity College Dublin.
The team structure includes CNM3, CNM2, CNM1, Staff Nurses and HCAs, supported by an Associate Director of Nursing (ADON) and a Director of Nursing (DON). Medical Clinical supervision is onsite at all times.
Responsibilities
The CNM3 will be part of the Nursing Administration Team, focusing on clinical leadership, staff management, and education/development for all nursing and HCA staff across SLRON.
There is one permanent whole‑time vacancy based at St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, Dublin 6.
