Site Reliability Engineer
We’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join Spendesk’s Infrastructure team, which builds the tools, systems, and internal products that empower every engineering team to move faster and more safely. At Spendesk we transform traditional infrastructure into a developer‑facing platform focused on enablement, automation, and scalability.
Mission
Platform Engineering is about building the foundation for scale, not just keeping the lights on. Our mission is to turn complexity into simplicity , manual toil into automation , and infrastructure into a platform that drives innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure services – provisioning workflows, service orchestration, and deployment automation using Kubernetes, Go, and cloud‑native tools.
- Own and evolve our CI/CD platform (ArgoCD and GitHub Actions) to improve performance, reliability, and usability.
- Develop the Infrastructure Service Orchestrator that allows product teams to spin up production‑ready services in minutes with consistent tooling, observability, and security.
- Improve observability tooling and incident‑response workflows, build custom dashboards, and refine alerting systems to reduce noise.
- Partner closely with product engineers and engineering managers to identify recurring friction and turn them into reusable, documented platform solutions.
- Take technical ownership of key platform domains such as secrets management, infrastructure as code, monitoring pipelines, or cost‑visibility tooling.
- Champion internal adoption of platform capabilities by writing documentation, creating onboarding guides, and supporting teams through async support and office hours.
- Participate in the regular on‑call rotation (off‑hours) and firefighting (on‑hours) to continuously reduce toil through automation and smarter alert routing.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of engineering experience with a strong track record in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform roles supporting multiple engineering teams.
- Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
- Fluency in Go (Golang), Bash, and Python.
- Proficiency with AWS and Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform or similar.
- Experience building internal tooling or platforms used across multiple teams and owning adoption, documentation, or support.
- Bias for automation – replace playbooks with code and eliminate toil wherever possible.
- Product mindset – empathize with internal users, gather feedback, and treat internal systems like customer‑facing products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with clear documentation and async updates.
- Love for clean abstractions, scalable systems, and improving developer workflows.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline design, especially trunk‑based workflows, rollback strategies, and secure secret handling.
- Hands‑on work with monitoring and observability stacks such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog.
- Knowledge of SLOs, alerting strategy, and incident tooling.
- Exposure to cost visibility and optimization tooling within AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Comfort operating in regulated or compliance‑sensitive environments such as fintech and GDPR.
- Contributions to open‑source DevOps or platform tooling.
- Familiarity with platform metrics frameworks like DORA or internal developer satisfaction surveys.
- Proven ability to influence cross‑team technical initiatives or onboard other engineers to shared tools.
- Experience navigating fast‑growing SaaS or product engineering orgs with 50+ developers.
