Service Engineer

Position

You will be responsible for on-site repairs and maintenance for the entire range of Gatan‑EDAX products. Based at our headquarters in Élancourt (78), you will primarily work at customer sites across France and occasionally abroad. Your tasks include installation, maintenance, repair and training on our products. You must be available for frequent travel (up to 80%).

Your responsibilities

• On-site installation, technical assistance, limited phone support, hardware and software configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Gatan‑EDAX products.
• Verify that repaired systems meet operational specifications and document interventions.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams down to component level.
• Diagnose and repair component‑level failures in electronic, vacuum, and mechanical systems.
• Write intervention reports and update the CRM daily.
• Prepare billing and warranty documents as needed.

Profile

• Associate degree (Bac +2) in Chemistry / Physical Measurements / Electronics / Materials Engineering / Industrial Engineering and electrical certification.
• A higher degree such as a Master’s (Bac +5) or Ph.D. in sciences is a major asset, especially if you demonstrate a strong interest in instrumentation and electron microscopy.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in on‑site maintenance, ideally in a field related to electron microscopy.
• Strong customer focus, innovative mindset, analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in isolated environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• English proficiency for reading technical documents and oral communication. Spanish would be a plus for interacting with Spanish‑speaking clients or partners.

Travel area

Mainly France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, occasionally Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and internationally (training).
