Satellite Harness Engineer
Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions
"Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO.
"Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.
About the Role
As a Satellite Harness Engineer for Infinite Orbits’ GEO satellite missions, you will define, design, and validate the satellite harness, ensuring proper functionality. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a robust satellite harness that connects all electric components on a high-performance GEO Satellite. You will ensure full integration. and verification of the satellite harness throughout Assembly, Integration, and Testing phases.
Job Description
Design & Development
Create wire lists, electrical harness layouts and schematics for Endurance satellites
Define wire routing, connector selection, shielding, and grounding strategies
Use CAD tools (like CATIA, SolidWorks) for harness routing and layout
Subcontract Management
Work with a harness supplier in a technical capacity to ensure the timely delivery of the harness
Integration
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to ensure proper fit and function
Support installation of harnesses into satellite structures
Analysis & Validation
Perform electrical and mechanical analysis (signal integrity, EMI/EMC, thermal, vibration)
Verify compliance with space standards (e.g., NASA, ESA, MIL-specs)
Testing
Develop and execute test plans (continuity, insulation resistance, high-voltage testing)
Troubleshoot faults and implement corrective actions
Documentation
Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, wiring lists, and test procedures
Maintain configuration control and traceability
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
5 Years Experience with wiring/harness design in aerospace or high-reliability industries.
Familiarity with standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-STD-1553, or ECSS.
Proficiency in CAD such as Solid Works and Catia.
Strong understanding of:
Signal transmission and power distribution.
Connector and cable technologies.
Preferred experience:
Work on satellites, spacecraft, or avionics systems.
Cleanroom assembly experience.
Knowledge of space environment constraints (radiation, vacuum, thermal extremes).
High attention to detail (small wiring errors can cause mission failure).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in cross-functional engineering teams.
What we offer
The opportunity to be part of an international team transforming the space industry.
A creative and innovative work environment where ideas turn into reality.
