Sanitation Supervisor - Food Manufacturing
The 3rd Shift Supervisor coordinates and supervises activities of workers engaged in keeping equipment, machinery, and work areas in clean and orderly condition in compliance with HACCP standards. Inspect equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards. Supervise crew and ensures that crew is trained properly and working efficiently and effectively. Purchases and maintains records of cleaning chemicals and related products.
Job Duties
- Assure that the packaging, process machinery areas are kept clean and to HACCP standards and specifications.
- Responsible for coordinating the activities and workflow of workers engaged in sanitation in the most cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for training, administering, and enforcing company practices, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible to report any problems that cannot be immediately handled.
- Recommend and/or have the authority to make decisions relating to change of status of their employees re; hiring, discipline, safety, promotion.
- Direct, train and lead sanitation crew in proper safe cleaning procedures.
- Maintain personnel records and required sanitary records.
- Handle emergency situations in a calm and orderly fashion.
- Make sound quick decisions in the company's best interest.
- Motivate staff, secure safe work environment.
- Daily inspection of equipment and area before production begins.
- Has clear understanding of cleaning process and can estimate quantity of workers needed to complete tasks.
- Manage any production operating during the night.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead a crew to complete tasks safely and efficiently that is spread throughout the building.
- Maneuver around machinery 50% of the workday.
- Climb ladders/stairs as needed throughout the day.
- Able to lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work at computer station 20% of the workday.
- People skills such as ability to defuse potential volatile situations.
- Maneuver cautiously on slippery floors surfaces.
- Manipulate around and on equipment to clean or visibly inspect cleaned equipment.
- Work in hot, humid, cold, noisy, wet, and odorous environment.
- Must be able to lead and train diverse work group to maintaining quality and sanitation standards.
- Successfully complete the safety training and adheres to the requirements.
- Work 40 - 45 hours per week.
- Must have dependable attendance.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse employee population.
- Must have good decision-making and leadership skills.
- Ability to take on responsibility with little or no direction.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to demonstrate all cleaning duties to properly train workers.
