JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Manager provides ongoing sales support to assigned Sales Representatives. This role will identify prospects regionally, evaluating the resources needed to develop business relationships. This role also oversees sales strategies, proposals, and forecasts, selling approved products and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides ongoing sales support to assigned sales representatives, including coaching, and developing of sales tactics, strategies, and assisting with closes as needed.
- Meets monthly with Sales Representatives to review and set sales goals, providing updates on current market.
- Maintains regular communication with the Product Support Department to resolve and troubleshoot customer issues as quickly as possible.
- Understands products, market competition, and how to position products to overcome challenges to meet sales targets.
- Distributes equipment leads, ensuring customer inquiries are answered as soon as possible.
- Keeps an accurate and comprehensive customer database, including contact names, businesses, and clients’ sales history.
- Reviews Sales Representatives’ commission statements each month to ensure accurate reporting.
- Keeps informed of new products, services, and other information of interest to customers.
- Attends trade shows and/or conferences as the company representative, networking with industry leaders and establishing business relationships.
- Assists Sales Representatives in troubleshooting customer issues, collecting past due accounts as necessary.
- Collaborates with other internal department staff members as needed, working closely with all company divisions to develop cross-selling strategies and ensure a great customer experience.
- Meets customer expectations for continued support and follow-up after sales are final to include delivery of truck, signing of delivery report, truck orientation, service schedules, etc.
- Continuously works towards acquiring new business by generating leads, following up on them, and networking through current customers.
- Maintains professionalism on the job at all times.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature as required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred, significant additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 7-10 years of outside sales and/or operational leadership experience in materials handling industry.
- Valid Driver’s License and driving record acceptable to insurance company.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and on a team.
- Ability to achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly quotas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to develop relationships with sales staff.
- Minimal travel outside of territory (trade shows, training).
