Description
The Safety & RAMS engineer is a member of the project teams. As the Safety & RAMS engineer within the project, you are responsible for carrying out Safety & RAMS studies for one or more projects in parallel. You implement methods such as Functional Analysis, Preliminary Risk Analysis, FMEA, and Fault Trees. You lead the functional safety analysis & design and perform reliability prediction and analysis of mechanical / electric/ electronic system.
Responsibilities & Activities
With the support of Safety & RAMS referent if considered useful
Functional safety & RAMS management during the product development
- Planning and coordinating of the functional safety & RAMS activities in the product development phases.
- Identify safety and RAMS requirements in customer specifications and break down these requirements at system, sub system and component level and ensure that they are properly taken into account throughout the cycle (design to system validation & manufacturing).
- Planning of safety verification and planning confirmation measures.
- Initiation of escalation process if evaluations are not successfully passed.
- Safety case development according to the safety plan: define and manage the collection of evidence (analysis and/or tests) to ensure the demonstration that the product is safe and complies with the required RAMS requirements.
- Management of internal and external (customer, suppliers, Assessors) interfaces.
- Contribute to the suppliers assessment according to the applicable functional safety standard(s).
- Engage and manage, if necessary, any subcontractors to support him/her.
Lead the functional safety & RAMS analysis & design
- Perform / participate preliminary hazard analysis, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis, and predictive reliability studies.
- Contribute to the definition of architectures and technological choices.
- Define functional & technical safety / RAMS requirements and their allocation.
- Define safety mechanism at the system, software and hardware level.
- Ensure the implementation of the safety concepts by the suppliers.
- Determine individual component reliability.
- Combine the components reliability data in accordance with the system reliability diagram to determine total system reliability in its operating environment.
- Based on the results of the reliability analysis, help to determine the maintenance tasks (corrective or preventive, periodicity) and thus contributing to the definition of the Maintenance Plan.
- Writing reliability and safety reports.
Contribute to the implementation of the cyber security requirements
- Contribute to the definition of the cybersecurity concepts (system, SW, and HW level) to meet OEMs requirements.
- Ensure the implementation of the cybersecurity concepts by the suppliers.
