Your mission

As a Safety Engineer , you are responsible for defining and delivering safe design solutions on complex industrial and energy projects. Your objective is to protect people, the environment, and assets by identifying major accident hazards and implementing effective prevention, control, mitigation, and protection measures, in line with project requirements, budget, and schedule.

Your responsibilities

Safety engineering & studies

  • Identify and qualify Major Accident Events .
  • Define and implement prevention, mitigation, and protection measures.
  • Perform and/or contribute to:
  • Preliminary Risk Analysis (PRA),
  • Plot plan and 3D model reviews ,
  • Identification of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) and associated criticality ratings,
  • Cold spill protection,
  • Active fire protection (firewater pump stations, firefighting networks, deluge systems, hydraulic calculations),
  • Fire, flammable gas, and toxic gas detection systems,
  • Prepare specifications and requisitions for firefighting and personnel protection equipment.
  • Perform technical bid evaluations and vendor follow-up.
  • Develop high-quality safety deliverables in line with project milestones, budget, and schedule .
  • Manage interfaces with Project Management, Clients, Partners, and engineering disciplines (Process, P&ID, Piping & Materials, Civil, E&I, Packages, etc.).
  • Prepare responses to client comments and issue Engineering Queries when clarifications are required.
  • Identify inconsistencies in the Basis of Design and elevate appropriately.
  • Participate in project and safety coordination meetings.
  • Issue weekly progress reports.
  • Propose technical and CAPEX optimization solutions where relevant.

Leadership & coordination

  • Act as safety engineering focal point on the project.
  • When applicable, coordinate and review the work of other safety engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with project procedures (HSE, quality, document control, interface management).
  • Capitalize and share feedback with the Safety Department.

Note:

Risk Quantification (QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA, explosion loads, RAM), Environment & Health, and Noise & Vibration studies are out of scope .

Your profile

  • Education: Master’s degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Safety, or equivalent).
  • Experience: Proven experience (7+) in safety engineering on industrial or energy projects.
  • Technical skills:
  • Strong knowledge of process safety principles and applicable standards.
  • Experience in fire & gas systems, fire protection, hazardous area classification, and safety studies.
  • Strengths: Autonomy, rigor, technical leadership, strong communication skills, ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.

Skills & tools

Tools / environments: EPC project environments, safety engineering standards and methodologies.
