Rseearcher M/F in marine bio-geochemistry
Offer Description
Tracing anaerobic methane oxidation mediated by iron using iron speciation and isotopes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct anaerobic incubation of sediments.
- Perform isotopic tracing of biogeochemical processes using stable isotopes of carbon (IRMS analyses) and iron (MC-ICP-MS analyses).
- Extract and amplify DNA for sequencing and identification of microorganisms.
- Present results at an international conference.
- Write an article for an international journal.
Unit & Location
Geo‑Ocean is a multidisciplinary geosciences research unit covering geophysics, geochemistry, tectonics, sedimentology, and paleontology. The unit involves the observation, measurement, and modelling of geological processes and the development of methodological and instrumental approaches for the exploration of oceans and continents, from the Earth's mantle to surface environments in coastal and open‑ocean settings. The work will be carried out in Plouzané (France) within the CYBER team (Biogeochemical Cycles and Resources), in close collaboration with researchers from the BEEP laboratory. Geochemical analyses will be performed primarily at the Ocean Spectrometry Facility (PSO).
Qualifications
- PhD in biogeochemistry.
- Expertise in sedimentary and isotopic geochemistry.
- Strong interest in microbiology.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficiency in English.
