Overview

HNTB’s Raleigh, NC office is seeking a Roadway Project Manager I to join our Roadway design team. Our team is currently working on complex projects in North Carolina for NCDOT, City of Raleigh, and various other municipalities. We are dedicated to enhancing communities, solving infrastructure challenges, and increasing transit and pedestrian/bicycle mobility.

As a Roadway Project Manager I, you will manage and deliver transportation engineering projects within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Projects can range from intersection and multimodal corridor improvements to large interchanges, multimodal improvements, low impact bridge construction, railroad grade separation, and feasibility studies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned project(s) throughout their full lifecycle, including developing the scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing the delivery of the project plan to achieve on-time, on-budget, high-quality work and client satisfaction.
  • Proactively manage the budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications in support of project objectives.
  • Provide high-level technical tasks while reviewing design-related specifications, calculations, reports, and plans.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline and functional teams, to address and resolve design-related issues.
  • Lead or work as a discipline lead on project management teams for one or more projects and mentor team members toward project objectives.
  • Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit teams to support business development, client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects; assist with proposal development and presentations as needed.
  • May be responsible for recruitment, development, and retention of staff, including planning for staff reporting and performance reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience

  • Deliver 4-for-4 performance (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on projects, identify and escalate risks and change management issues with oversight from more experienced staff.
  • Lead a project or task order with multiple design and planning disciplines.
  • Use system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver projects or task orders.
  • Collaborate with the Office Management Team to implement HNTB sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.
  • Interface with client-level peers on a project or task order.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team and task leads and perform portions of the technical work.

What We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 10 years relevant experience
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) certification
