Site Manager Role Overview
Site Manager is responsible for managing all construction and commissioning activities on site, from mobilization through to final handover.
- Functional reporting: Head of Construction & Commissioning (Renewable Gases Europe)
- Operational reporting: Execution Project Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Site Management (End-to-End):
- Lead site activities from mobilization to execution, demobilization, and handover.
- Set up infrastructure (security, offices, storage, access).
- Deploy quality systems and procedures.
- Ensure smooth transition to Operations & Maintenance.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Full responsibility for site HSE performance.
- Promote strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and training.
- Target: zero accidents (LTI-free site).
- Coordination & Reporting:
- Coordinate all contractors and interfaces.
- Lead daily coordination meetings.
- Review method statements, lifting plans, and permits.
- Report KPIs and escalates issues early.
- Quality Management:
- Ensure compliance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Manage non-conformities (NCRs). Manage mechanical completion & punch lists.
- Minimize rework.
- Ensure documentation (redlines, quality records).
- Planning & Schedule:
- Responsible for meeting project deadlines.
- Track critical paths & milestones.
- Coordinate with planners and contractors to avoid delays.
- Monitor progress and resolve bottlenecks.
- Procurement, Contracts & Cost Control:
- Manage site purchasing needs.
- Support contract administration, claims & variations, cost control and EAC forecasts.
- Maintain proper records (reports, photos, MOM).
- Team & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead site team (e.g., commissioning engineers).
- Manage contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure proper skills and training on site.
- Maintain strong collaboration and motivation.
- Main Interfaces:
- Project Manager (primary operational link).
- Planners, HSE advisors, Quality engineers.
- Contractors and suppliers.
- Internal teams (engineering, industrialization).
Profile Requirements
- Education & Experience:
- Technical degree.
- Experience in industrial construction projects (energy, bioenergy, water, chemicals).
- Strong understanding of construction & commissioning.
- Languages:
- English + local language.
- Key Skills:
- Strong leadership & coordination.
- High HSE and quality awareness.
- Ability to manage pressure and deadlines.
- Excellent communication & negotiation.
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making mindset.
- Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills.
- Tools: Excel, MS Project, Power BI, etc.
