Summary Of The Position
The Manager of the Global Events Excellence Team will lead a team of five Global Events Excellence Project Managers to drive the Global Events Strategy and Execution. This role involves transforming the asset's strategic intent into successful and flawless events execution, ensuring alignment with the dedicated budget and Business Ethics guidance. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for revisiting and upgrading processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Team Management
- Lead and manage a team of 5 Global Events Excellence Project Managers.
- Set up a clear roadmap, monitor its execution through regular team meetings, touchpoints, and dashboards, and continuously seek excellence in execution.
- Revisit and upgrade existing processes and ways of working to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Be the gatekeeper and flag when a risk is identified.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve event planning and execution.
- Provide guidance, support, and development opportunities to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
Congress & Events Strategy and Execution
- Set up, validate, and coordinate the execution of the Global Congress plan of the year, serve as the gate-keeper when it comes to execution, and anticipate planning for the year to come.
- Serve as the point of contact and referent for assigned congress/event to streamline communications.
- Collaborate with Asset Teams, Global & Local Cross-functional teams, Medical Excellence, Global Comms Affiliates, Logistic Agencies, Booth Agencies, etc.
- Drive global cross-functional planning teams and liaise with key stakeholders to gain alignment across functions.
- Manage logistics, ancillary meetings/events, and affiliates' participation.
- Together with the Procurement and Medical Excellence team, oversee and challenge activities of external agencies (logistic, booth, others).
- Monitor congress activities before, during, and after the event.
- Continuously seek excellence in execution and potential improvements.
Budget Follow Up & Contracts
- Monitor budget – check purchase orders, invoices, and track payments.
- Monitor service contracts in close collaboration with Corporate Legal Affairs, Purchasing, Ethics & Compliance.
Ensure all actions are conducted through ethics & compliance with company policy and flag any identified risks.
Knowledge & Experience
Education / Certifications
- High School Diploma required; B.A. preferred.
- Demonstrated competencies in supporting/working in high-level organizations.
Experience
- 5 years with direct and sole accountability for planning, management, and oversight of all aspects of executing pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology programs, meetings, congresses, and events.
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience with pharmaceutical regulations such as HIPAA and the Sunshine Act.
- Previous management experience required.
Languages
- English fluency is mandatory, French is a plus.
Travel Requirements
Able to travel at least 20-40% of the time.
Key Technical Experience
- Hands‑on working experience, knowledge, and understanding of both the conventional and pharmaceutical industries, as well as business practices that support best‑in‑class meeting planning management and execution within the healthcare industry.
- Skilled in both written & verbal communications and able to present concepts & ideas in a public speaking format.
- Ability to take the initiative to review, prioritize, and make decisions as to what is routine versus what is critical, with little supervision.
- Ability to interact and challenge all levels of stakeholders in an organization.
High level of energy, curious, team spirit, reliable, and trustworthiness.
