Resort Manager

This isn’t a “keep the chalets ticking over” job. And it’s deliberately not a drown-in-admin one either.

We’ve moved the time-consuming back office budgets, pre-arrival guest liaison, linen, and supplier admin to our experienced UK team. That means the person we’re looking for can do what actually makes a season great: leading the team, looking after guests, and holding the standard of food, cleanliness and service we’re known for - instead of spending half their week buried in spreadsheets and receipts.

Who we are:

Alpoholics is a boutique, independent chalet company in La Plagne with seven catered chalets and a reputation in resort that’s genuinely hard to match - chef-led, restaurant-standard food, craft beer, hot tubs and saunas, and a guest experience that’s fun, relaxed and seriously well run. We run at 95%+ occupancy, around half our guests are returners, and across 314 Google reviews we’re at 4.97/5 (97% five-star). We’re proud of that, and we’re looking for someone who can protect and build on it.

And there’s never been a more exciting time to join.

We’ve just brought Great British Menu chef Thom Bateman into the business as a partner and part-owner. Thom is designing every menu for next season and training our chefs himself - so the food, which is the heart of what we do, is going to another level. As Resort Manager, you’ll be the person making sure that standard lands, every chalet, every night.

The Role – people, guests, standards:

• Lead, support and steady the chalet teams day to day - the person everyone relies on when it’s busy
• Own the guest experience: be the calm, warm point of contact who makes every week feel effortless
• You’ll train alongside the chefs with Thom himself - October at his restaurant and in resort before the season - so you know our food inside out and can hold the standard.
• Hold the standard on cleanliness, presentation and service across all seven chalets
• Lead transfer days and changeovers so they feel smooth, not stressful
• Confidently step into chalet cover when needed, delivering our menu to standard
• Keep the resort running: suppliers, maintenance, the last-minute curveballs
• The light, practical in-resort bits that have to happen on the ground – collecting and distributing lift passes to the right chalets, counting stock, checking in deliveries (light touch, not your whole week)

You won’t be on your own.

You’ll inherit a well-oiled operation with real support behind you: Jenny, who’s run our resort for the last decade, leads your handover and is there for training & the first week of the season to answer any questions. Sue, our sales manager, handles sales and the bulk of the admin from the UK. Fran is your assistant manager in resort all season. And Charlie (MD) is hands-on and contactable. There will always be one of them at the end of a phone for support. This is a resourced, supported role – not a sink-or-swim one!

This is not a 1 season role;

We’re not looking to fill a season - we’re looking to find someone to become a key part of the company for years to come, as we grow further.

You’re probably who we’re looking for if:

• You have solid experience in the catered chalet industry - you know how a resort operation actually runs (this one’s essential)
• You’re a natural leader who’s brilliant with both guests and staff
• You’re calm under pressure, organised, and you sweat the details
• You lead by doing and you’re guest-obsessed without being a pushover
• You have a full driving licence (essential)
• Bonus: French, basic DIY/maintenance confidence, you already can ski/board
