Offer Description

The digital developments carried out within the unit across several research sectors have led the laboratory to develop unique software tools that incorporate the expertise accumulated over several decades. The challenge now is to ensure the long‑term viability of these tools, their functionality, and a consistent development approach that enables their interoperability. While software development is an important element, the same applies to experimental data, which must be archived and rigorously documented to ensure that it is fully reusable. These developments, which serve the entire unit, account for 30% of the responsibilities of this position.

The second part of this position’s responsibilities (70%) takes place within the DNLCS (Nonlinear Dynamics and Systems Control) research group, specifically in relation to activities in the nonlinear dynamics of rotating machines. Drawing on a high level of expertise in nonlinear dynamic simulation, the position holder will ensure the maintenance of the HARMONIE tool in relation to ongoing research developments (theses, contracts, etc.) and the SAFRAN partnership, and more broadly, the long‑term viability of all the digital tools developed.

Main responsibilities

  • DySCo team, DNLCS group:
    • Development and maintenance of the HARMONIE tool:
      • Integration of research developments into the tool
      • Regression testing and associated tests
      • Monitoring of the state of the art in harmonic balance
    • Implementation of an IT architecture suited to ensuring the sustainability of developments
    • Monitoring of completed digital developments and their sustainability
    • Support for scientific directions regarding digital development
  • Laboratory component:
    • Implementation and maintenance of a tool for managing the laboratory’s data and information system:
      • Definition and maintenance of a data management tool related to experimentation and simulations
      • Deployment and maintenance of an information management tool for laboratory operations
    • Implementation and management of a laboratory Git repository to support software development and its sustainability
    • Ensuring consistency in the deployment of IT resources within the unit
    • Participation in decisions regarding the resources implemented
  • Detailed description of responsibilities:
    • Develop a software environment (GitLab or similar) to ensure the sustainability of development efforts across the laboratory. This aspect covers both digital and experimental components.
    • Laboratory management information
    • Propose enhancements to the HARMONIE tool, identify development priorities to be implemented, and ensure the code remains state‑of‑the‑art and fully operational.
    • Will oversee and integrate software developments (excluding HARMONIE) carried out within the team and propose the tools necessary for these developments, as well as best practices associated with software development.
    • Will participate in the oversight and development of theses, contracts, and research projects for the DNLCS group.

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of software development best practices
  • Knowledge of database management as applied to scientific calculations and experimentation
  • Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, PyAnsys, Ansys, and Fortran
  • Knowledge of nonlinear dynamics
  • Basic understanding of operating system and network technologies
  • Ability to maintain the consistency of the data repository and data warehouse
  • Meeting deadlines related to partnership projects
  • Organizing laboratory activities (30%) vs. team activities (70%)

Interpersonal
