Research engineer in paleoclimatic data analysis W/M
Mission
Your mission will be integrated into Action 1 of Work Package 2, “How human societies interact with their environments?” which focuses on the study of past climate changes and their possible impact on hominin populations through pollen analysis of deep oceanic sedimentary sequences, their comparison with archaeological data and the application of ecological niche models.
The mission is to compare a high-resolution pollen record from a deep-sea sedimentary sequence of the Iberian margin covering the Middle Pleistocene Transition (~1.2–0.65 million years ago) with other paleoclimatic records and Eurasian archaeological and paleoanthropological data. Ecological niche modeling of hominins will be used to test hypotheses explaining European depopulation during this period. The study will be disseminated through high‑impact scientific publications.
- Processing and interpretation of pollen data
- Creation of a Eurasian paleoclimatic database for the Middle Pleistocene Transition (~1.2–0.65 million years ago)
- Use of archaeological and paleoanthropological databases
Application of ecological niche modeling.
