Comprising 1,650 researchers spread across 14 Research Centres around the world, our Global R&D team aims to continuously improve the quality of steel and its manufacturing processes. This involves investigating and developing disruptive technologies, reducing the carbon footprint of steel, and optimizing costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. The team's strong multicultural diversity, with over 30 nationalities, offers international experience and makes it possible to meet global needs.
You will join the Process Longs department of the Maizières Longs research centre, a team of 10 researchers developing and deploying advanced process solutions for Long Carbon steel plants worldwide. The team combines process metallurgy, advanced instrumentation, data analysis, and numerical simulation, with a strong focus on continuous casting and hot forming processes.
Your role
The objective of the position is to strengthen the research centre expertise in continuous casting process instrumentation and modelling, with direct industrial impact. Your main responsibilities will include:
Contributing to the digitalization of Long Carbon steel plants, through the development and integration of sensors and process models for continuous casting.
Supporting the decarbonization of steelmaking routes by adapting continuous casting strategies to new metallurgical routes.
