Offer Description
Missions and context:
- You will join the Optics and Photonics Group of the Electronics and Physics Department, whose research activities also encompass information transport, sensing, and data processing.
Your core activities will focus on the development of a novel type of chip-scale optical frequency comb generator for applications such as optical sensing, LiDAR, and ultra-high-speed optical communications.
This position is part of a "Prématuration" project from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. The primary goal is to develop an on-chip optical frequency comb using a mode-locked laser based on semiconductor nanostructures. We aim to generate optical frequency combs featuring ultra-low phase noise and a very broad optical bandwidth, while maintaining low power consumption for targeted applications.
Activities:
- Actively contribute to the experimental demonstration of chip-scale optical sources designed for optical frequency comb generation
- Perform advanced characterization to validate device performance
- Work in close collaboration with the academic partners within the project consortium
Level of training and / or experience required:
- A master’s degree (Bac +5) or equivalent
- A Bac +4 degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of professional experience
- A Bac+3 degree or equivalent with at least 6 years of professional experience
- A Bac +2 degree or equivalent with at least 10 years of professional experience
- PhD in Physics (in Photonics) would be a plus
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Solid understanding of optoelectronic devices
- Proficiency in advanced optoelectronic characterization methods
- Experience with optical simulation software (e.g., FEM, FDTD)
- Fluency in both English and French
Abilities and skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Proven teamwork and collaboration skills
Languages: English – Good; French – Good
