Remote-Eligible Fluid Engineer Intern for Rocket Systems
The Fluids team at Latitude develops the fluidic systems used both on the ground side and vehicle side of the launch vehicle.
The team works on several key areas, including valves, fluidic routing, pressure-control systems, liquid level sensing systems and other critical fluidic subsystems. These systems involve precise and demanding technical challenges, as they operate under some of the highest pressures and lowest temperatures of the entire vehicle.
We are looking for motivated, self-driven and hands-on candidates to join the team as interns and help us solve these challenges.
In return, you will develop your technical skills and work alongside talented engineers who will support your growth, both technically and professionally.
Tasks & missions
Your missions will include:
- Developing fluidic routing for the first and upper stages of the launch vehicle, including design, analysis, material selection, drafting, and support during manufacturing and testing
- Writing qualification and acceptance plans for vehicle valve components
- Assisting with, and progressively leading, the execution of these test plans, including pressure testing, cryogenic testing and vibration testing
- Designing custom valves for the vehicle
- Working on different types of valves, including electromagnetic and pneumatic valves, for use across various rocket systems
- Contributing to a comprehensive valve design approach, with a high degree of autonomy under the supervision of experts in the field
Preferred experience & skills
Education:
Currently studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
Technical skills:
- A strong basis in mechanical and fluidic engineering
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to interact well and frequently with other engineers, suppliers, technicians and managers
