REMOTE Avionics Systems Engineer
A REMOTE Avionics Systems Engineer job is currently at Belcan supporting one of our aerospace customers. We are seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer with at least 5 years of experience and in-depth experience in designing, developing, testing, and integrated modular avionics (IMA) solutions and/or development and testing of avionics display applications.
Job Duties
- Aircraft Level Avionics systems design, integration, and test within an integrated modular avionics (IMA) architecture.
- System engineering and integration support to multiple Avionics products including Flight Management Systems (FMS), Display Systems, Guidance, Navigation, Flight Controls, Autopilot, Displays, and Datalink.
- Systems validation and test of new Avionics functionality using dynamic aircraft simulation and test facilities (Integrated Test Benches).
- Systems development utilizing processes required for FAA / EASA certification of flight critical systems – Design Assurance Level A/B, ARP‑4754/ARP‑4761 and DO‑178B/C compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Full life cycle development experience with integrated modular avionics (IMA) systems.
- Experience decomposing and validating customer requirements into high-level system requirements using DOORs or equivalent requirements management databases.
- Experience writing scenario‑based tests for system‑level verification.
- Integration of avionics functionality and applications (Displays, FMS, Flight Controls, Datalink, Radios, Surveillance, and Navigation functions).
- Full life‑cycle development experience as a systems engineer or sub‑systems application engineer (design, development, integration, test, and verification) within an IMA architecture.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or systems engineering.
- Minimum of 5+ years of Systems, Avionics, Software, or Aerospace engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of IMA Certification Requirements (e.g., TSO‑C153, DO‑297, and/or AC 20‑170).
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work performed.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Display integration experience (touchscreen, HUD, and/or GPU, communication, navigation, and surveillance applications).
- Prior experience with Honeywell Primus Epic integrated architectures.
- Prior experience with legacy communications, navigation, and surveillance products or applications.
- Prior experience in requirements decomposition, system trades, and integration planning/testing.
Compensation
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position offers a salary rate of $90,000–$160,000; however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), education assistance, paid time off (including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law).
