Description of Work
This Assistant Unit Manager position is located in the Asheville EIPD Unit which consists of both Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living Services. This supervisory position is an internal professional assistant supervisor who assists the Unit Manager with organizing and directing the delivery of vocational rehabilitation and independent living services in a seven-county catchment area.
This position will assist the Unit Manager with work which involves planning, implementing, and evaluating the technical and administrative components of a diverse rehabilitation program. Administrative management tasks include budget development, personnel administration, staff training and development, and providing consultation/technical assistance to staff.
The AUM will work closely with the Asheville Management Team to ensure that clients continue to receive quality and timely services during caseload vacancies. Special projects may be assigned by the Unit Manager to meet the rehabilitation needs of individuals served and the Asheville VR/IL Unit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
- Knowledge of federal and state policies and regulations governing the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and training inexperienced/experienced employees in a supportive manner
- Knowledge of effective methods to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with agency staff, clients, and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of and/or experience with caseload management processes
- Knowledge of and/or experience with performance management
Salary
Salary Range: $57,983 - $101,470
Recruitment Range: $57,983 - $75,000

Additional Information
The position is funded in part through federal funds and is eligible for a hybrid‑teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours.
