Description of Work
This Rehabilitation Counselor Supervisor, serving as a Counselor-in-Charge, position is part of the Asheville VR/IL Unit and is located in the Hendersonville/Flat Rock satellite office. The role provides leadership to the Hendersonville and Transylvania satellite offices, organizing and directing daily supervision of counselors and staff, casework, and providing leadership within the unit. The CIC works with the Unit Manager to plan, implement, and evaluate the technical and administrative components of a diverse rehabilitation program that includes multiple caseloads, third‑party programs, and a limited number of specialized rehabilitation programs. The position manages a caseload serving adults with disabilities in Henderson and Transylvania Counties.
Job responsibilities
- Providing direct case‑management supervision to Rehabilitation Counselors and support staff to ensure completion of rehabilitation plans for employment.
- Performing administrative management tasks including casework approvals to ensure quality service delivery, budget development, and performance management.
- Assisting with onboarding and coaching of new staff to ensure program consistency and effectiveness.
- Providing and scheduling staff development training, consultations, and action plans to enhance staff and program performance.
- Providing assigned caseload coverage and assisting with coverage for vacant caseloads.
- Fostering collaborative relationships with community and partner agencies and other service partners to enhance employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state policies/regulations governing the delivery of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and training staff in a supportive manner.
- Knowledge of building and maintaining effective working relationships with consumers, families, and other professional and specialty providers.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
Salary Grade Range
$50,088 - $87,654
Recruitment Range
$50,088 - $75,000
Position is eligible for a hybrid‑teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours.
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling or counseling from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor; or
- Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Necessary Special Requirement: Successful completion of the agency requirements for independent counselor status.
