EURELITE is currently building its global engineering presence. The company's Paris office is expected to open in 2027. Until then, international candidates joining for on-site positions will initially work as part of our Beijing-based China engineering teamduring the first year.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Reactor Physics Engineer (Core Physics Engineer) to join our reactor development team and contribute to the physics design, analysis, and optimization of advanced nuclear reactor cores.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) technology, applying neutron physics, reactor simulation methods, neutronics analysis, and multi-physics engineering approaches to develop next-generation nuclear energy systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with thermal-hydraulics, fuel, materials, structural, and system engineering teams to support integrated reactor design, verification, and technology advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform reactor physics and neutronics analyses, including:
- Power distribution and flux analysis
- Reactivity calculations and control rod worth evaluation
- Fuel depletion and burnup analysis
- Core performance evaluation and optimization
- Apply Monte Carlo and deterministic reactor simulation methods using nuclear analysis tools (e.g., OpenMC, MCNP, SCALE, or equivalent) to support reactor core design and validation.
- Participate in reactor core design optimization, including fuel loading strategy, reactivity management, and neutronic performance improvement.
- Support multi-physics coupling and integrated reactor modeling activities with thermal-hydraulics, fuel, materials, and structural engineering teams.
- Develop and apply data-driven engineering methods, including surrogate models, reduced-order models, and simulation acceleration approaches.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, calculation notes, and design review materials.
- Support technical reviews and provide engineering recommendations for reactor physics design improvements and performance optimization.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Master's degree or above in:
- Nuclear Engineering
- Reactor Physics
- Neutron Physics
- Nuclear Science & Engineering
- Related technical disciplines
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of reactor physics, neutron transport theory, and neutronics analysis methods.
- Proficiency in Monte Carlo simulation methods and/or deterministic reactor physics calculation approaches.
- Experience with nuclear reactor simulation tools (e.g., OpenMC, MCNP, SCALE, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of reactor core design, fuel management, reactivity control, and nuclear system analysis is preferred.
Professional Competencies
- Strong analytical capability and rigorous engineering problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct independent technical analysis and solve complex engineering problems.
- Strong collaboration skills within multi-disciplinary nuclear engineering teams.
- Good technical communication, documentation, and engineering report-writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following experience will be highly valued:
- Experience in reactor core design, core optimization, or fuel cycle analysis.
- Experience with Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR), Small Modular Reactor (SMR), or Generation IV nuclear reactor technologies.
- Experience in multi-physics modeling, coupled reactor simulations, or digital engineering approaches.
- Research experience or publications related to reactor physics, neutron transport, or nuclear system analysis.
- Research experience or publications related to reactor physics, neutron transport, or nuclear system analysis.
