Based on their alloy design expertise, Constellium recently built an Additive Manufacturing entity to design, develop, produce and commercialize customisable aluminium powders (Aheadd® alloys) for high performance applications in key markets such as aviation, space, defence, automotive and motorsport. Constellium’s Aheadd® CP1 alloy has already gained a leading position worldwide, being used for various applications.
In this context, we are looking for a Metallurgical Engineer, starting with a fixed‑term 6‑month contract (renewable), to expand our aluminium powder offering, understand customer needs and develop solutions to match those.
The position will involve working in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑cultural Research & Technology project teams. It will also involve direct connection with customers, suppliers and academic institutions, as well as with Constellium’s Business Units.
Your main responsibilities
Regarding technical aspects:
- Develop and/or finalize development of innovative aluminium alloys, specifically designed for additive manufacturing.
- Together with other team members, establish customer connections and more generally develop relationships within the AM ecosystem to ensure our solutions will actually find their market by fully matching customer needs.
- When opportunities exist, initiate or partner in collaborative projects, also looking at external funding opportunities (e.g. state‑funded or European projects).

- Seize any opportunity to improve overall life‑cycle of aluminium powders used in additive manufacturing processes (e.g. powder recycling etc.).
Your Profile
For this position a Masters level degree and/or a PhD in Materials Science is necessary, with a focus on metals‑related products or processes.
Practical and theoretical knowledge of mechanical and/or physical metallurgy is mandatory, preferably developed on aluminium‑based alloys.
Knowledge of additive manufacturing and ideally of materials and particularly Al alloys used for additive manufacturing is also required.
Strong skills in Digital technologies (e.g. data analysis, AI…) would be a plus.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Fluency in French (written and spoken) is desirable. Fluency in German or any other language would be a plus.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience working in the development or usage of aluminium-based powders for additive manufacturing or at least in the development of aluminium-based alloy systems.
Your ability to work in a multicultural environment, for example through a period of training or professional experience acquired outside your native country, perseverance, speed, proactivity to enable decision making and your ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms will be key to success in this position.
