Overview

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are third‑party verified documents that communicate the environmental performance of construction products. In the past decade the sector has grown rapidly and is expected to accelerate further with the 2024 Construction Products Regulation leading to mandatory environmental reporting for many products in Europe. The LCA/EPD Team at Holcim Innovation Center is analysing EPDs to improve data quality and facilitate downstream use. A platform that monitors European EPDs has been created.

Responsibilities

• Improve existing functionalities of the platform
• Design, develop, and test new functionalities of the platform
• Develop additional related services to optimise the use of EPDs by the LCA/EPD Team or by employees of Holcim subsidiaries

• Rigor and attention to detail
• Curiosity and critical thinking
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Carbon Footprinting, and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)
• Proficiency in data analysis (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
• Python coding and knowledge of data formats (JSON/XML); optional but a plus

Spoken Languages

English mandatory, French optional

Educational Level

• Master’s degree or final year of engineering school
• Field of study: Environmental, Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar technical degrees)

• Duration: 4 to 6 months
• Holcim Innovation Center site: Saint‑Quentin‑Fallavier, approximately 30 km east of Lyon (accessible by public transport)
