Job Description
Reporting to the Manager - design Engineering, you will be part of the design engineering team as an R&D Engineer. You will improve the performance of existing products or design new modules.
Working as a team with the other R&D engineers you will be involved in projects mixing power electronics, mechanical design and simulation work.

Responsibilities
- Study the function to be carried out (electrical diagram, nomenclature, CAD routing, pin assignment, mechanics ...).
- Write specifications of products designed and manufactured.
- Define test plan, compliance matrix, justification file and the risk analysis.
- Write project progress reports with analyzes and test results summary.
- Write application notes or technical papers in support of product specifications.
- Qualify electrical power components and modules and implement test manipulations in the laboratory.
- Keep aware of new components or technologies, their performance in using innovative designs, or modifying existing products.
- Verify the respect of the patents from competition and ensure the protection of the technical and technological know-how of the company by the filing of patents.
- Ensure the follow-up and the development of the prototypes in the customer’s application.
- Ensure evolution and technical changes during the life of the products.
- Ensure the analysis of the products returned by the customers (RMA) for electrical failure.
- Write the 8D analysis report.
- Perform thermal simulations or electrical simulations.
- Ensure that product design considers the need for manufacturing (repeatability, cost, testability and inspection, ...).
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
- Bac +5 or equivalent (sciences & technologies)
- 5 years minimum experience required
Competencies
- Solid knowledge in analog electronics and power electronics.
- Familiar with power converter design and test.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods of hybrid power modules.
- Knowledge of electronic CAD software, Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of simulation software, Comsol, Ansys, Spice, PLECS.
- Fluent oral and written English - collaboration with other Microchip divisions.
