全球速卖通事业部(AliExpress)-Legal Counsel-Paris

We seek to hire a legal counsel of commercial law who will be a key member of the growing legal team supporting AliExpress in Europe. The attorney will be based in one of our European offices (Paris) or Hangzhou.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the General Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel of AliExpress, advise on legal aspects of the platform’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings, with a focus on Europe.
• Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, supply chain operations and product offerings.
• Address and respond to document requests from overseas government regulators and law enforcement agencies.
• Provide advice on platform compliance, local and cross-border logistics, customs and tariffs, and product listing compliance matters.
• Research local laws and regulations in the local jurisdictions and manage outside counsel.
• Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, commercial agreements and policies.
• Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct trainings to business units.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in an EU jurisdiction, with at least 5-7 years of relevant legal experience.
• Proven in-house legal experience at a leading e-commerce platform or multinational corporation, with a solid understanding of e-commerce business models and key compliance challenges, and/or cross-border trade transactions (such as import/export, logistics, payments, financing, etc.).
• Direct experience handling regulatory investigations, inquiries, or enforcement proceedings initiated by EU authorities, particularly those conducted by customs, tax, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
• English language proficiency is essential. Proficiency in another European language (preferably French) and/or in Chinese (ability to hold business meetings, as well as reading and writing).
• Highly responsible, independent, high integrity and team-oriented, with sound judgment and a proactive approach to risk management.
• Ability to work with different locations across time zones.
• Sincere interest in technology, innovation and business. Strong commercial sense with solid foundation in legal training.
• Open to international travel as may be necessary.
